Cecilia Muñoz Endorses Haley Stevens for Congress in MI-11
Former Obama Policy Adviser and Livonia Native Cecilia Muñoz Praises Stevens’ Michigan-First Approach to Leadership and Policy
BIRMINGHAM, Mich. — Today, Haley Stevens, chief of staff to the U.S. Auto Rescue and digital manufacturing executive, is excited to announce former Obama Administration official Cecilia Muñoz, a Livonia native and President Barack Obama’s former director of the White House Domestic Policy Council, released the following statement:
I had the pleasure of working with Haley on workforce and economic development programs during our shared time in the Obama Administration. I was always impressed by Haley’s strong work ethic and unflinching commitment to investing in and growing our local economies. I care so much about this district; my dad still lives in the house I grew up in near Six Mile and Farmington. I know that Haley has a deep appreciation for the issues that Michigan families are facing today — from rising prescription drug and healthcare costs to stagnating wages and a tax system that prioritizes the wealthy over our middle class. In Congress, I know Haley will be an innovator and a problem solver and will have a singular focus on making government work for Michiganders.
In response to Cecilia Muñoz’s endorsement, Haley Stevens released the following statement:
Cecilia Muñoz has an incredible record of public service and advocacy and has always worked for what places like southeastern Michigan need to thrive. Her leadership in the Obama White House ensured that our federal government was working to create a more just, equitable society for every American. I am deeply proud to have Cecilia’s support in this race.
Stevens, whose previous endorsers include the Teamsters and former Michigan Congressmen Mark Schauer and David Bonior, leads the Democratic primary field in fundraising with over $650,000 raised in 2017. Her campaign was recently named as one of TIME Magazine’s “10 Races to Watch” around the country.
Michigan’s 11th District was named a “toss-up” race following Rep. Dave Trott’s retirement, and a recent poll by Patriot Majority USA showed a 45-42 Democratic lead in the district.
